Prince Maximilian Wied-Neuwied 1782-1867
Maximilian was born on Sebptember 23rd 1782. As the eighth of ten children to Count Friedrich Carl zu Wied-Neuwid and his wife Lousie, born Countess of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berlenburg at Castle Neuwied. The impact of the French Revolution impacts Maximilians childhood. He witnessed the asylum of french refugees at castle Neuwied, and must ultimately flee himself to Saxe-Meiningen from the French troops. Where he recives education by the Engineer Lieutenant Christian Friedrich Hoffmann in Nature of Science and Archeology. Nearly 20 years old, Maximilian enters the military service..
